Acoustic Emission Group (GEA)

In 1998, the AFIAP Board of Directors, supported by the relevant authorities and a number of partners, elected to write a Good Practice Guide for Acoustic Emission Testing of Pressure Equipment (GBP-EA). The guide describes the entire process for implementing tests and specifies the procedures for using the information recorded. An Acoustic Emission Work Group (GEA) for specialists involved in test practices was set up in mid 1998.
The group is chaired by a representative of the acoustic emission users: Christophe DI GIULIO. CETIM undertakes the administrative duties: Mohammed CHERFAOUI. The GEA feedback work group is chaired by Odile BARBERIS.
The GEA members are the representatives of the following bodies:

  • Industrial Equipment Security Bureau (BSEI) (French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy)
  • Associate bodies: AETECH, AIR LIQUIDE, ANVIXED, APAVE, APITI, AREVA NP, ARKEMA GROUPE, ASAP, BONDUELLE, BUTAGAZ, CETIM, CFBP, DASSAULT AVIATION, EADS, EDF, ENDEL, EPA, EXXONMOBIL, GROUPE PRIMAGAZ, GTC, IS Industrie, SILEC, SOCOTEC, SOLVAY, TOTAL and TOTALGAZ
  • Associate partners: COFREND, FIM, SNCT, UFIP and UIC

All the main guides and appendices (2009 edition) have undergone a complete overhaul and have been approved by the authorities through BSEI Decision No. 09-102 dated 29 June 2009.

As a result, the second edition of the guide is available both in French and English.

New appendices are currently being prepared for 2013.
